UPDATE 6/28/16 11:00 PM Gas service restored with a temporary patch.  Permanent repair to be scheduled.

On Monday 6/27 workers found a problem with a gas supply line serving the Cogswell, Polymer, MRC and JRSC buildings.  A temporary repair by National Grid was made.  A permanent repair of the gas line will be scheduled with a certified gas contractor.  Notice will be sent in advance of any subsequent outages needed to effect permanent repairs.

Repairs are underway and are expected to be completed durning the week of May 22nd.  Warm rooms may be encountered until repairs are completed, especially on the upper floors.

Critical repairs to the steam system necessary to ensure reliable operations this winter will begin Saturday August 8th at 11 AM and continue until Saturday August 15th at 11 AM.  There will be three areas of work.  One at the East side of the Rensselaer Union where an expansion loop will be installed and the existing manhole worked on.  Either side of Hall Hall will have work inside of the existing manholes where anchoring systems will be repaired.  The Rensselaer Union work will be barricaded for safety reasons.  The barricade may be in place for up to one month.  John Singleton is the project manager.

To comply with NY State and US Federal laws all campus elevators will be undergoing safety inspections June 29th through July 17th. Individual elevators will be taken out of service for approximately 2 hours to undergo this testing.  Signs will be placed on the elevators being tested.

During the Annual Electrical Shutdowns equipment testing revealed repairs were required for one of the main supply transformers providing electrical service to our buildings. The transformer was removed from service until parts were received. These repairs are scheduled to be completed and the electrical loads rebalanced on Tuesday June 30th. Emergency power will be available for buildings with emergency generators.

SYSTEMS AFFECTED: Electrical Power Outage

DATE WORK TO BE DONE: Tuesday June 30th LENGTH OF TIME REQUIRED: 5:00 PM to 5:30 PM

REASON FOR SHUTDOWN: During the Annual Electrical Shutdowns equipment testing revealed repairs were required for one of the main supply transformers providing electrical service to our buildings. The transformer was removed from service until parts were received. These repairs are scheduled to be completed and the electrical loads rebalanced on Tuesday June 30th. Emergency power will be available for buildings with emergency generators.

In prepartion for the replacement of the main electrical feeder to Amos Eaton, Lally and Greene buildings there will be a power outage on Monday August 11th from 5:00 PM to 3:00 AM on Tuesday August 12th.

This electrical outage is in preparation for an electrical feeder replacement.  Further power outages will be necessary until the final transition is made and the new feeder comes on line in September.  This work is necessary to prevent unplaned power outages to the Amos Eaton, Lally and Greene buildings.

There will be four hour daily Fume Exhuast and Supply Air Systems outages beginning Monday July14th through Thursday July 17th.  The outages will begin at 6:00 AM and end at 12:00 Noon each day.  The outages are necessary to facillitate an engineering review of the fume exhaust systems in the building.  John singleton is the project manager.
